The Scots mum suffered horrific head injuries after being attacked by a young woman following a performance by Paolo Nutini at the OVO Hydro.
The 53-year-old has been collecting empty stacks of glasses in the main hall to return them as part of a £1 deposit scheme after Friday night’s performance.
A girl in her 20s approached her and accused the woman of taking her cups from the floor.
The girl snatched the cups from the woman before attacking her, causing her to fall to the ground.
talking to Glasgow live, the woman’s husband, who did not wish to be named, described how the incident developed after the end of the concert.
He said: “My wife was approached by an assailant who accused her of taking her cups even though they were on the floor.
“My wife advised her not to fool around and continued collecting cups with her friend.
“The girl then snatched the cups from my wife’s hands from behind.
“Surprised and shocked by this, my wife turned to face the girl and received a blow to her head, causing her to instantly fall to the ground.”
The woman was treated at the scene before the couple reported the attack to police.
They visited the minor injuries unit later the next day, where they were told that her cheekbone might be broken.
He added: “My wife is 53 years old and was shocked by such a brutal attack from a girl the same age as her daughter. Passers-by also said they were very shocked at the level of violence.”
A spokesman for the Scottish Police said: “We received a report of an attack on the Hydro Glasgow around 10:45 pm on Friday 16 December.
“The investigation into the incident is ongoing.”
