WOKE’s project to ‘rethink digital sexuality’ with ‘think mushrooms’ cost the taxpayer over £100,000.

Chris McGovern of the Campaign for Real Education argues that these study groups are a blatant waste of taxpayer money.

Both were among the £100m that The Sun reported yesterday Sunday was “wasted” by Britain’s research and innovation arm.

The pressure group Conservative Way Forward found it had funded 600 studies on topics such as reparations, decolonization and unconscious bias.

UKRI says it “improves life in the UK”.

But Chris McGovern of the Real Education Campaign said, “This is a blatant waste and misuse of taxpayer money.”

Tory elder Jacob Rees-Mogg balked: “The UKRI does not appear to have proper control over the use of taxpayer money.

“His goal is to advance science and innovation, not squander money on the latest revivals.

“This is a costly and clearly wasteful quango that should be under tighter ministry guidance.”

Conservative MP Philip Davis called the cash “a grotesque waste of public money”.

He added: “The government should shut down any quango that wastes money and ensure that all taxpayer money is spent on public services and not on such politically correct nonsense.”

Earlier this year, a government review found that the UKRI had failed to achieve “effectiveness”.
