Human body parts scattered around the park may belong to someone who was killed years ago, police say.
Officers found the remains in Brackley Park, Hull, ten days ago.
Police believe the victim may have been run over by a train from a nearby railway siding carrying supplies from the Hull docks.
But police now believe that the incident in the eastern part of the city of East Yorkshire could have happened months or even years ago.
Whether the police were able to identify the victim is unknown. Hull Live Reports.
The British Transport Police are investigating.
Police were initially called to the scene at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, December 7 following “reports of human remains found”.
There were four crime scenes with tents in the park cordon on Friday.
Forensic investigators in white overalls were seen at the scene, causing concern among local residents.
But since the remains have been there for some time, it is believed that the scene may have been disturbed by animals and wildlife.
Nicola, a mom who lives near the park, said locals were “shocked” by the incident.
She told HullLive: “It’s a great place for families, but the area used to have its problems, especially in the summer.”
British Transport Police said on Thursday: “We are still searching the area.
“These are believed to be the remains of a single person, and detectives are conducting a series of investigations to identify them.”
