
CORONATION Street actress Saira Chowdhry got engaged to her longtime partner more than 23 years after they first met.
The 40-year-old, who also starred in Hollyoaks, shared her big announcement tonight by posting a snapshot of her new piece of jewelry just moments after businessman Marcus Jackson got down on one knee.
Sharing a photo of them together outside Edinburgh Castle, the soap actress wrote: “I said yes 💍 Mrs. Jackson then ❤ love you @jaxson_2013 Met you 23 years ago.
“Who knew that our journey would bring us here. Here comes our next chapter #get married #groom #new year #proposal #Edinburgh Castle.”
Saira’s followers, including some of her former Hollyoaks co-stars, were quick to congratulate her on the news.
Sarah Lawrence, who played Darlene on the show, wrote: “You deserve all the happiness in the world my girl.”
While another commented, “Congratulations. Great news for NG.”
The couple are celebrating the New Year in Scotland with friends and now plan to party all night long celebrating their news.
The actress is best known for her role as reporter Nyla Badil on Coronation Street between 2013 and 2019.
Prior to that, she played troubled schoolgirl Anita Roy in Hollyoaks for four years from 2008 to 2012.
Saira has also appeared in a number of other television roles including Cold Feet, Life, and No Hurts. She is also currently starring in the CBBC series Dodger.
