A man accused of leaning out of one car to shoot a woman in another on Interstate 70 was sentenced in federal court today for being involved in a fentanyl distribution ring.
The US Attorney’s Office said in a statement that the FBI opened an investigation into 27-year-old Anthony “Peta Man” Caldwell when he fired a semi-automatic rifle at a woman on April 30, 2019. from Mercedes-Benzhitting her on the back and arm.
A federal investigation eventually uncovered a drug distribution ring in which an Arizona man supplied fentanyl to 29-year-old Kevin White and 22-year-old Maricus Futrell, who then supplied Caldwell.
“Caldwell set [others] and sold the drug in the Fairgrounds Park area of St. Louis,” the statement said.
Shortly before his arrest, Caldwell received a gunshot wound to the head.
In total, the distribution ring delivered over 25 pounds of fentanyl to the St. Louis area.
Earlier, White and Futrell were sentenced to 10 and 11 years in prison, respectively.
