The deputy head of BMA Scotland tweeted: “Our A&E is often down. We simply have nowhere to take new patients.

“They are waiting dangerously long.

“I was told that the ambulance crews did not arrive for so long that they found their patient dead.

“On cardiac arrest occurring in our waiting rooms.”

Dr. Peel added: “The worst thing is that in the coming days and weeks the situation will worsen.

“Why are critical incidents not announced?

“Or are measures being taken? Colleagues break down.

“I hope it’s not your loved ones, but it could be.”
