MUSIC lovers have said that LadBaby is the new X Factor, making the number one Christmas boring.

In the past, the winner of the ITV song contest has always taken first place, but now – for at least five years in a row – social media star Mark Hoyle and his wife Roxanne have taken first place.

LadBaby made chart history tonight by topping the Christmas chart for the fifth year in a row with Food Aid, surpassing the record set by The Beatles in the 1960s.

The track reworks the song Band Aid Do They Know It’s Christmas? with lyrics about the cost of living crisis and vocals from MoneySavingExpert founder Martin Lewis.

After the news, people rushed to complain about it on Twitter, claiming it was boring despite the fact that they are raising money for charity.

One person commented, “Ladbaby is the new x-factor that makes the number one Christmas boring.”

The second moaned, “The X Factor has been ruining Christmas #1 for years, and once we got rid of it, LadBaby stormed in to make sure it was still crap.”

While a third commented: “Remember when everyone complained about the x factor winner always being Christmas number one and now it’s every year.”

In the run-up to Christmas, the track sold over 65,000 copies and became the fastest-selling single of 2022 to date.

Last year, LadBaby tied with the Beatles for the sum of the four Christmas first-place finishes earned by the Fab Four inconsistently in 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1967.

Profits from the new single will be equally divided between the food bank charities Trussell Trust and the Band Aid Trust.

LadBaby reached the top of the holiday chart with food-inspired tracks We Built This City (2018), I Love Sausage Rolls (2019), Don’t Stop Me Eatin’ (2020) and an Ed Sheeran/Sir Elton John track featuring Sausage. Rolls for Everyone (2021).

They said, “I can’t believe it. We are number one. The charity has been doing this for five years in a row. How did we do it again?

“We want to say thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past five years. A huge apology to The Beatles and to all The Beatles fans… I’m so sorry.

“Charity wins. Trussell Trust gets Christmas number one again.

“Thank you to all the people who downloaded, to all the people who believed in us and brought a little bit of Christmas magic. We love you all. Yes, buddy.”
