Celtic fans will once again occupy the northwest corner of Ibrox for the traditional New Year’s Eve derby against Rangers next month as the clubs fight for tickets continues.

The Old Firm matching distribution was confirmed on Hoops social media channels Today.

In total, visitor season pass holders will be provided with 708 briefs for the Ibrox away section, where Celtic fans have been hosted for the past four years.

Prior to the rescheduling of the 2018 section, the entire Broomloan Road Stand was allocated to away fans under the Old Firm’s special provision, but a reduced allocation to visiting fans has been in place for the last four and a half seasons.

The budget cut has proven to be a contentious issue from the start as it is one of the highlights of the SPFL Premier League season and the most anticipated matches.

The cuts are reciprocated across the city, with Rangers attendance at Celtic Park games between sides declining.

Only Hoops Season Pass holders will be considered for the limited offer on January 2nd with qualified fans who meet the established criteria set out in the Traveling Fans voting.

Away tickets for the highly anticipated match are £52 plus postage.

The two best players in the league will meet for the second time this season on January 2nd. Anja Postekoglou’s team won the first leg 4-0 at Celtic Park.


The Rangers are now led by Michael Beal, who replaced Giovanni van Bronkhorst in the dugout earlier this month.

The Dutchman has won just one win over city rivals in his year in office – at Hampden in the Scottish Cup semi-finals last April – and lost. NINE Falling behind in the national title race before being sacked.

Meanwhile, Celtic have also released more ticketing news ahead of their next trip to the National Stadium, with season ticket holders selling additional tickets for the Viaplay Cup match against Kilmarnock today.


An additional ticket was given on a first come, first served basis to eligible fans for the game against Derek McInnes on 14 January.

Rangers will play Aberdeen in the other semi-final of the tournament, a day later on Sunday 15 January.
