The curfew continues to operate in Ukraine.

Europe was bidding farewell to a year when a major war broke out after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February, with no end in sight to the conflict.

A curfew continued to be in place across Ukraine from 19:00 to midnight, making it impossible to celebrate the beginning of 2023 in public places.

“Several governors posted messages on social media warning residents not to violate restrictions on New Year’s Eve, and some even warned that police presence on the streets of the city would be increased at night.

“I would really like this year to end,” said Oksana Mozorenko, a 35-year-old from Kiev, although she said her family put up a Christmas tree and bought gifts to make it “a real holiday.”

On Saturday, Russia launched its second major missile attack on Ukraine in three days, with explosions reported across the country, according to Ukrainian officials.

“The country of terrorists has fired several missiles. We are congratulated on the New Year. But we will stand,” Governor of the Kyiv region Oleksiy Kuleba wrote on Telegram.
